How to read a check
A real coin from the board right now, with each part of its check explained. A grade is evidence, never a prediction or a recommendation.
Waiting for the first full check.
- 1The grade adds up every warning sign we found. Tap any grade letter for what it means.
- 2The warning signs, worst first, each with a line saying why it matters.
- 3Who holds the coin, with pools and lockers left out, plus the maker's powers.
- 4When we checked. A check is a snapshot, so we run it again every 10 minutes.
Every signal we check
Mint authority4 points
Someone still has the power to print more of this coin whenever they like. If they print loads and sell it, everyone else's coins are worth less. Read the guide
Freeze authority4 points
Someone can lock coins inside people's wallets so they can't sell. If this is switched on, you could get stuck holding a falling coin. Read the guide
Liquidity2 points
Liquidity is the pot of money that lets people swap the coin back for SOL. If it isn't locked, whoever filled the pot can take it away, and then nobody can sell. Read the guide
Top wallet2 or 3 points
How much of the coin the single biggest holder owns. If one wallet owns a big slice and sells it all at once, the price can crash. Read the guide
Top 10 wallets1 or 2 points
How much the ten biggest holders own between them. The more they own, the more a few people can move the price. Read the guide
Insiders2 or 3 points
Wallets that got their money from the same place, so they're probably one person or team pretending to be lots of people. They can all sell at the same time. Read the guide
Bundles3 points
Several big wallets bought exactly the same amount right at launch. That usually means one team grabbed lots of the coin early, spread across many wallets. Read the guide
Dev history3 points
The person who made this coin has made coins before that were rugged. Read the guide
Dev still holds1 point
The coin's maker still owns a chunk of it and could sell it to buyers. Read the guide
Thin liquidity1 point
The pot of money for swapping is very small, so even small sales can drop the price a lot. Read the guide
Copycats2 points
This coin uses the same ticker as an older coin. Check you're looking at the one you meant, because copies are an easy trick. Read the guide
Paid promoNot scored
The makers paid DexScreener to show this coin to more people. It's an advert, not a review. Read the guide

We're checking our own grades against what happened next. The first results appear once enough coins are a day old.

Questions
Is Before It Rugs free?
Yes. The live board, every coin's grade and evidence, the survivors leaderboard and all the guides in our Learn section are free, with no account needed.
Does an A grade mean a coin is safe?
No. An A means we did not find the specific warning signs we look for. Insiders can hide behind unlinked wallets, teams can sell slowly and hype can simply end. Read can a coin that passes every check still rug before trusting any grade.
Why does a coin show a question mark instead of a grade?
A question mark means we have not received its safety report yet. We request reports once a coin has at least $3,000 of liquidity (or $3,000 of trading in the last hour on a launch curve), and RugCheck limits how many we can request each minute, so a new coin can wait a few minutes. Smaller coins stay unchecked unless you paste their address into the search box. We don't grade on market data alone.
Can I check any Solana coin, not just the ones on the board?
Yes. Paste the coin's contract address into the search box and we will run our checks on it. For tokens more than 14 days old, only the token-level checks are scored. Always search by contract address rather than name, because copycat tokens often share the same ticker.
